For an ongoing testimony go to my personal blog at John The Poet's Blog. It’s been a while, but I wrote a new blog about my recovery from a mental condition. Check it out.

Both Me and Sister Cindy present our recovery story to Churches. We talk about mental illness, Christianity and recovery. If your Church would like a presentation contact me at 5115 Holly Ave. NW Cedar Rapids, IA 52405 or call 319 693-1521.

The testimony I share is not one that readily make sense even to myself. For you see I received Jesus after I realized that my sin made unclean before a Holy God and that Jesus had bore my sin on the Cross. After understanding this gift, I said thank you and gave my life to Christ. The enemy would come to confuse me. God knew that He would lead me out of the confusion and make me a testimony of His grace. My confusion was called Manic Depression. A condition that was in my family. God would overcome drugs, alcohol. promiscuity, and even occult teachings. The Spirit of God would renew my mind with the Truth that would set me free. My God is glorified as greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.

Early on in my Christian life I would have to face intense fears that the Enemy would use against me. The Good News of God was that old thoughts could be replaced by the new thoughts from God's Word. The Scripture would bring me more and more peace, joy, and love. Four years ago God lead me to a fuller assurance of my faith by simply trusting Christ alone and that God loves me no matter what. My response is to worship Him no matter what. Now I am free to abide and be filled with His Spirit and His Word abides in Me. Jesus gives me the freedom to walk in more and more strength. This web site is to share truths that I have come to know along my faith journey. I am called to publish the great things God has done. I love to share this poetry and these songs for God's glory.

God Smiling At Me

I looked into God’s face and what did I see?
Behold Father God was smiling at me.
How could this be?
God smiling at me.

Then I remembered,
“For God so loved the world,”
Included a sinner like me.
Still God smiling at me?
What of His holiness?
What about His wrath?
God smiling at me?

Then I sensed someone holding me tight.
It was the Arms of Jesus,
Wrapped in delight.
He said,
“For you I was crucified.”
Then I knew the smile of God,
Cost Jesus His life.
I then felt the scars in the hands of this One.
Eternity would declare Christ’s payment complete.
The risen Savior’s greatest Victory was in death’s defeat.

John 3:16 KJV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Across A Bridge

I found myself broken,
Laid as a beggar,
Just outside the rich man’s gate.

Lazarus,
Was my name,
I was unable to move
And I cried to be set free.

The rich man’s door never opened.
No comfort on earth was ever found.
Yet,
Another door was opened,
As an earthly life found it’s end.
As I beheld the Pure One,
He beheld me as a beloved friend.
Clothed in White,
He heard my misery cry.
He gathered me in His arms,
And began to carry me across a bridge,
That was designed by His grace alone.

The bridge was formed by two pieces of wood,
With nails,
Left and right and one below.

Like a little lamb,
My Savior carried me to the still waters,
Around His Father’s throne.

The Father shown so brightly,
Oh, what Glory to behold.

What Another Man Is About
by
Jesus

This story about John's life is seen through My eyes. If John wrote the book  it could be very discouraging. Through My eyes I can show how I am at work. His story tells how I lead a sinner to a fully assured saint. In John's life I have truly made all things work together for good. I have loved John to a place of joy. A truth that has changed John's life is that He has realized it's not about himself, but about Me.

I gave the title of the book “Another Man Of Gadarenes”in memory of a man that I delivered from devils. This man was mentioned once, while the other twice. With the story of the swine. John's  story is one of deliverance like the other man. John was not possessed, but I allowed him to be severely oppressed. Like my Apostle Paul because of things in John's life he felt like the worst of sinners. This helped John not to judge, but love and accept everyone where they are at. For twenty years of his forty years of faith, John  faced hospitalization and suicidal thoughts.

John's story is truly one of My faithfulness and shares hope for all. Through this trial  John was taught to trust in Me and acknowledge  Me in all his ways.

By my Grace towards John. John found a path of truth that has been setting John free.

Through this book I hope you realize afresh how powerful and great My Love is for all My saints.

John's Lord and Savior,

,Jesus Christ

The book continues in Another Man Continues. If you want to start out with a happy ending please visit the ending and be blessed. Another Man Of Gadarenes - The Ending

As of the first of the year God reminded of two promises. One is "I will never leave you nor forsake you." and the other verse, "Nothing shall separate me from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus." I believe God is giving me this assurance because of praying one of God's Greatest prayer.

Ephesians 4:14 -21

For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might by His Spirit in the inner man. That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye being rooted and grounded in love. May be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height. And to know the love of Christ which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God. Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that worketh in us. Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

I challenge you to memorize this verse and pray this for yourself and others. You will be blessed.

God has blessed me with a promise and a Spiritual Law "There is therefore no condemnation for them that are in Christ Jesus. Who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and death." A related verse, "Walk in the Spirit and you will not fulfill the lust of the flesh," "Also be filled with the Spirit speaking to one another in Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs." What a great Law.

Christian Affirmations Of Our Freedoms

If we ask anything according to His will He hears us and if we know that He hears us we  know  that we have the petitions we asked of Him.

1. I have the freedom to trust Christ with all my heart.
2. I have the freedom to know Him and the power of His Resurrection and the fellowship of His suffering, being made comfortable to His death.
3. I have the freedom to always be thankful.
4. I have the freedom to live for Jesus.
5. I have the freedom to love like Jesus.
6. I have the freedom to be pure like Jesus.
7, I have the freedom to come  to Jesus.
